There is strong evidence of a mouse in our house at one point, but it is no longer around (all mouse traps empty, cats don't act like they hear one). I found an area in our basement suspended ceiling with A LOT of tree seeds. Could I assume that this is near where the mouse entered the house? I am trying to determine where it entered so I can prevent any future mice.

Inspect foundation for any cracks and seal. Make sure there are no openings around doors and windows. Seal where wires and pipes enter the home. Seal openings around pipes underneath sinks. Make sure doors and windows properly close. Check for any openings beneath door where a mouse could squeeze in. Avoid leaving doors open. Check gable end vents to make sure they are properly covered on the inside with wire mesh to prevent insects and rodents. Check for any gaps in soffit and fascia. Turn off all lights in basement during the day and look above ceiling tiles for any signs of light to determine if there are any openings where mice could enter.
