We have what has been a simply wonderful Kitchen Aid dishwasher.

It has been so good that when we sold our house and moved to our lake house, we swapped the dishwashers out and brought it with us.

Now, three years later, it does not fill for some of the cycles. We have tried to monitor to see if there is a pattern, but there doesn't appear to be. Sometimes it fills for the first wash, but not the second. Sometimes we can "spin the dial" and it will fill and sometimes it won't.

When it doesn't fill it still pauses during the fill cycle. Then it starts running dry.

I'm handy, if given instructions. Kitchen Aid, Model KUDH230B0 F, Serial # FD2102374.

Thanks. I'll go away and wait for your anwer(s). :D

A few possibilities, listed in order of likelihood (IMO): 1) Worn/corroded fill solenoid/valve 2) Loose wire at timer or solenoid 3) Mineral buildup in the supply line or connections (there may even be a small screen at the connection to the dishwasher). I would turn the water and power off and disconnect the water line under the dishwasher. While there, check the wire connections to the solenoid. If there's no obvious clog or loose wire, replace the solenoid. Another symptom of this problem is that the water never shuts off.

Like a good and obedient husband I have been running to the computer every half hour to check for a reply. ;)

Oh yeah, what's the solenoid look like and where should I look for it?

sounds more like bad timer contacts... remove lower acess panels and on the left above the front leg there is the valve unplug the valve and et the timer to fill measure voltage at these 2 wires .. if you get 120v open door rehook the wires to valve and close door... if no water enters bad valve ... if no 120 at wires bad timer... :coffee:
