I have a GE Central Air Conditioner that cools well, but for no more than about an hour at a time. The unit vibrates, the pipes that connect the backyard unit to the basement unit vibrate, the reset switch on the compressor releases, and cooling stops. What do I look at for possible causes?
In the interim, while its 90 outside, I manually reset the unit and run it for 30-44 minutes at a time, turn it off, rest 30 minutes, and start again. By running it manually in segments, it cools, and I can keep the house about 10 degrees cooler than outside.
When I check the connection in the basement next to the "cooling box" int insulated cooling pipe is uninsulated at the the connection, very cold, and sweating.
I'm appreciating of any pointers you can give, and things I can read and learn.
