I have been trying to design a deck to fit in the "corner" of my above ground pool. The pool is a 30' round with sufficient space surrounding it. I have selected a "corner" to build an 8x16 deck for better access and to have a place to relax without surrounding the entire pool.
My problem is understanding the angles to get the deck to wrap around the area I have selected, more importantly the placement of the posts since once they are set I am commited to working from them to attach beams and struts.

Have you checked out http://deckplans.com/ ? They have plans for above-ground pools.

Deckplans.com works. So does a piece of graph paper, a pencil and a scale.

Framing around an above ground pool is all about cantalevering the framing, and blocking as needed to support the deck boards once you get to the joisting. Pour the footings in straight, parallel lines, with the ones closest to the pool no more than 2' away from the pool. Once you start with the posts, extend the girders right up to the pool -- a couple inches away. Then your joists, with blocking as needed to support the ends of the decking.
