Please help someone.

I have an AMANA side by side fridge /freezer with Ice and water dispenser. Its about 10 years old. It stopped cooling and I had someone look at it and they said the compressor is shot.....How its still making ice i don't know or how things on top shelf are freezing I don't know.

That said, when the new fridge comes(June 28th) in it does not have an Ice water dispenser. How do I stop the water from coming out of the copper pipe behind the fridge that fills the ice and water dispenser. I can't find the valve nor figure out what to do so water doesn't flow when we bring the new one in. Please email me a response as I check this often. seely_peter@hotmail.com.
I see that I can unscrew the pipe from the fridge but what about teh water?

thanks anyone....

I can't believe anyone would install a water supply line without installing a valve but I guess anythings possible. First of all, follow the line to see where it is tapped into its main supply of water. Most installs have a self-tapping saddle valve that clamps onto a copper pipe & a valve that pierces the water line with no drilling required. That then serves as a shut off valve. I guess it is possible someone installed a tee & soldered the icemaker line into place. If thats the case you would have to shut off the main water supply to your whole house & cut the icemaker line & solder a cap onto it. Dave

One more thing. If your compressor is bad you would not still be making ice & freezing your food. Sounds more like a defrost problem. I would get a different opinion from another repair man. Dave
