I have some old brass dresser handles that have several coats of paint of them. I would like to remove the paint and restore the hardware to their original luster.
Suggestions please on how to:
- remove the paint from the handles
- cleaning them up after the paint is removed
- preserve them from tarnishing after that is all done

I moved your post from tips and tricks because that is a Non-interactive forum and answers cannot be given there.

Fill a coffee can with paint stripper and dump them in to remove the paint.
Clean them off with whatever the stripper suggests, sometimes water, but usually mineral spirits or lacquer thinner.
Shine them up with Brasso or comparable brass polishing compound.
How to protect them, I don't know that one.
Try looking here. (http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial_s&biw=&hl=en&q=protecting+brass+from+tarnishing&btnG=Google+Search)
