Hello all, I just installed a new toilet and when I take a shower, some water (probly about a litre?) leaks up from below the toilet. The shower drains properly so I did not think there was any blockage in the drain pipes, but the only thing that I can think of is that the drain is blocked in some way so it is filling up the drain and pushing out through the wax seal at the base of the toilet.
Any other ideas?
thanks
I think you need a new wax seal for starters. You will obviously need to remove the toilet to do this. You can check out the situation with the toilet off. Maybe snake this lines.
The wax seal,if installed properly, would not permit water to leak out under the toilet. It is supposed to seal the transition from toilet to flange.
Did you use a rag or anything in the toilet drain to keep the stench out of the house when you changed the bowl. Joneq did that once. :wall:
I am assuming this is a replacement bowl and not a new installation, and that the flange it on the finished floor and not below which would require maybe 2 wax seals or and extension to raise it.

Yeah, I will have to grab a new seal.. I just replaced an existing toilet and I am pretty sure the flange was flush with the floor. No rags or the like in the toilet drain, I just did my best to ignore the beautiful smells :)
I will take the toilet off, and do the snaking and then see how it looks.
