I bought a home last year which has a well water system for lawn irrigation. I recently noticed that the sprinklers were not coming on, so I checked some things and noticed the pressure switch contacts looked burnt. I tried to lightly clean off the burnt contacts with a nail file, and this seemed to work for a few days until it stopped again. I ordered a new pressure switch, and tried to clean the contacts again to get it running once more, and when I turned on the power, I got a loud spark at the pressure switch AND near the reset button on the control box. I have since changed the pressure switch and the entire control box, but the pump doesn't seem to work. Where do I go from here, before I bite the bullet and call a repair guy? If I created a short in the pressure switch when I tried to clean it, shouldn't the overload protection in the control box have saved the pump from the short? BTW I have matched the wiring exactly the way it was when I changed the parts. Could my tank or lawn sprinkler controls be the problem?
