window unit freezes

I have a Fedder window unit and I clean the filter nightly but it freezes up every night. 10,000btu for a 10 x 14 room. Any suggestions? Help!

For one it is probably to big for that size of room, you should really only need 5,000 - 6,000 btu for that space. The freezing up may be due to refrigerant leak or a fan problem.

Does it freeze on high??

I started with a 5,000BTU and it didn't cool the room. I never use high only medium. Found out the room is 12 x 14. I have had this problem since I purchased it. Same thing with another identical unit.

I agree, the 10k is too much for just that room.
