Hi,
I'm looking for some advice from someone who knows about installing split air conditioning systems.
I have just bought a split system that is pre-charged and has 4.8m x 3/8" copper refrigerant pipes.
I need to extend this pipe run to somewhere between 6m and 8m.
I have the following questions:
If I extend the pipe run using refrigerant grade copper pipe, does this have to be brazed or can it be soldered?
For a longer pipe run, should I increase the diameter of the pipes and if so, will I need to add additional refrigerant to the system?
Thanks

Your best bet would be to let a pro handle the hook up. The lines need brazed and then the system is required to be put in a vacuum and leak check before the refrigerant is released then the charge would need to be trimmed. None of this is DIY for the homeowner.

Thanks, although that is likely to cost more than the unit :-)
