my house was sided 15 years ago and i am trying to determine if the company put in soffett ventilation for the attic. when i look under the edge of the roof from outside, i can see what looks like soffett ventilation. it appears to be aeration holes about every 4 feet or so. is that soffett ventilation for the attic or is that just something else required for the siding?
thanks in advance.

The holes you describe would be there only for ventilation purposes, but the only way to make sure that they are working would be to go into the attic and check to see if you can tell if there is air coming from them. sometimes builders put blocking between the trusses above the walls which constricts the space available for air flow; insulation blankets can constrict it as well. If you can see plenty light at the tail ends of the roof (not the gable end) near the bottom (all along the wall line), you probably have sufficient ventilation.
