I am getting ready to put a deck on my house and am wondering where to attach it. I have been told that going into cement is better, but I would hate to jack up my foundation. My neighbor attached one by cutting the batten board siding off the lower part and going into the frame, but I hear those can leak.

Any help would be appreciated.

...if you don't flash the ledger board, or the board where he made the attachment.

So is it better to attach to the frame over the foundation?
