I live in Rhode Island, correct me if I'm wrong but the only kind of termites in this region are subterranean, correct?

Anyway, was thinking bout doing some prev. maintenence with baits of some kind. However, it struck me...would putting baits around a house that does not have termites be asking for trouble by attracting the very thing I am trying to avoid?

Professional termite control is recommended. The installation of a chemical soil barrier requires expert knowledge and specialised equipment to form a complete and continuous barrier to protect the building from a termite entry and infestation. Baits rely heavily on the termites "finding" and consuming sufficient bait. Your home is a much bigger bait station. One critical aspect is that if bait stations are installed in areas where termites are more likely to be foraging they can be successful. The termites must "find" the stations to have any chance of success.
