I have had a new progammable thermostat one year. However, when I turned on the air conditioning last week, it cools down just one degree no matter how many degrees I lower the temp. Then I have to go over and turn it off, back on and it will again run until the temp goes down one degree further. I have to do this until it hits the temp I want and then it will continue to cool the house at that temp with no problem. I have changed the batteries in the thermostat. I'm not sure if I need air conditioning repair or a new thermostat?
