Hi,
Im building a new deck here in Vermont and I need advice on what type of decking to buy. I have seen many bad reviews on Trex ( that is what I was going to buy ) and now I am not sure which brand is good. I also have Veranda, Rhino and EON available in the area. There may be more. I didnt like the EON because I dont like the idea of the hollowed boards. With decking like this, I would have to be carefull about covering up board ends. With something like Trex thats not an issue. Please offer your advice and experience.
Thanks.

With hollow decking (EON, Geo Deck, etc.), you can cover up the board ends by "picture-framing" the deck. That is simply putting a course of boards around the perimeter of the deck, mitering the corners. (The same way a picture frame is built.) Geo Deck also has end caps for both styles of decking they offer (T&G and plank) in the same color as the decking.

I prefer WeatherBest over Trex. But my decking of choice is Pro Cell.

A lot will depend on the brands that are available, either in-stock or what can be ordered, where you're at. THOSE are your choices.

I've enjoyed working with Trex and have not had a problem with it
Though I don't have the Wetherbest or Pro Cell available to me
Keep in mind that Trex has been the largest for a long time, and thus a large target
There are parts of my state were the county requires you use Trex
You can't build a wood deck
They apparently are the only ones with some Gov't apprroval # for Fed. projects
And that's the standard these local gov'ts adopted

The ChoiceDeck however was horrible
