I have just purchased property that has a 600 ft deep well. The torpedo pump pressurizes the the pressure tank. Is it cost effective to install a storage tank and add another pressure pump.

Thanks

Why would you want to do this? If the existing pump and tank are sized correctly and you have enough pressure and flow, then you shouldn't need anything else.

I had heard that it would make the submersible pump last much longer and a smaller horsepower pump used to pressurize the pressure tank would use less electricity. Im new to this , everything works just fine right now. Thanks

Generally, it is better to keep a system as simple as possible ( 1 pump, tank, etc) With an open storage tank you will have the added aggravation of a float switch and/or level cotrols to turn the well pump on and off. On the smaller pump, you would need some sort of safety shut-off to protect that pump in case the other pump fails and the tank is emptied. Plus you are running 2 pumps instead of 1 (no savings there) Besides....Submersible pumps are built to build pressure and deliver flow...It's what they do and they don't mind :-)
