Hi, We have a 19 year old Speed Queen Heavy Duty Washer, and it just started leaking a little bit with each load. I took the front cover off, and noticed that when it is in the spin cycle, the water is coming off the bottom of the circular tub (which is stainless steel, I believe). None of the hoses seem bad, or worn.
Something that is normal, I suspect, is that after 2-3 loads, the belt then slips on the tub pully... because it is wet. Sometimes is doesn't even turn at all for a minute or so, then turns very slowly until it gets up to speed. The load then comes out very wet, of course, since it didn't get properly spun dry.
I'm curious where water could be coming from on the tub though! Isn't that a sealed unit? Seems odd, unless it is coming from over the top of the tub. Maybe when it spins, the water isn't getting out fast enough and the water creaks up the to the top and over the top and down the tub? That might mean I need a new water pump?
Any help is appreciated... Jim

If it is leaking down by the middle of the tub it is likely the main seal. It is a difficult repair and probably not worth it for this machine. You said the hose wasn't leaking right. Maybe if you are very careful you could run the machine with the lid switch taped down to see if it goes over the top. I don't reccomend it, but if it will satisfy your curiosity and you are careful you will be able to see. Do so at your own risk!!!!!!
