recently I got an "F7" code on the face of my control panel. I was talking to a friend and he said I need to replace the "touch pad and control assembly". When I talked to a parts guy he said I needed to do electrical testing. What else could cause this problem?

I assume the touch pad part just plugs in so should be easy to replace.
