The Bali horizontal blinds provided by the Contractor are about 2 feet too long for the height of the windows. How can I remove the excess slats and string?

neither Bali nor Hunter Douglas had installation instructions on their website :( , let alone directions for shortening  . however, Levelor did! these instructions might be able to be applied to your Bali blinds:

TO SHORTEN BLIND
If Blind is too long, it can be shortened after mounting.
1. Lower Blind to full length.
2. Remove buttons from bottom rail (Fig. 16). Pull cords from holes and cut lift cords above knot
to release bottom rail (Fig. 17).
3. Remove excess slats until desired length is reached.
4. Cut excess ladder cord until desired length is reached(Fig. 18).
5. Thread center cords back through holes in bottom rail and tie knots to secure. Also tie ladder cords around tail. Cut off excess cord at knots. Reassemble buttons.
6. Completely raise Blind and straighten slats.

hope that helps! good luck!
