View Full Version : Fireplaces - airflow

I am building a new extension to my home with a chimney for an open fire. I have been advised to place airbricks either side of the fireplace and to run ducting pipe to the hearth. Does anyone have an opinion as to the best position in the hearth for the pipes to come in. Also does anyone know what type of pipe I should use?

My architect has gone on holiday for a week and left me with no technical information - I am therefore trying to make it up as I go along as we are now at DPC level and I have a bricklayer who wants to get on.

The UK is asleep now - I am hoping someone Stateside is awake to help me out.

Thanks
