My fridge just quit cooling. It seems to be running fine, the fan motor is running, but I can hear the compressor kick on for about 10 seconds and then click off.. It keeps doing pretty much that same cycle. On for 10 seconds and off for about a minute.... What could it be? Thermostat? A faulty sensor or something.... Thanks!

could be the start capacitor or start relay like here right in this forum. The start capacitor add a little extra zing to start the compressor then drops out. if it is bad the comp won't start. The relay must energize to put the capacitor in the circuit.

You may want to try one of these.

you have 2 fans 1 in the freezer and 1 to cool the condenser. clean the condenser of dirt and stuff and make sure that fan is working.

could also be a blockage in the system then it won't help.

Clean everything first though especially the condenser coils.

I am not a mechanic, and I can only say what I would do

Thanks! Where might the capicator be located?

On or near the compressor about the size of a battery. do a google pic search for one or go to an online parts store. You may not have one. Be carful they carry high voltage and can easily kill you. Have it tested at an appliance store. Do not touch the prongsDo not try to discharge it with a screwdriver :alarm:
