I think this should be a very simple question. Or, atleast I hope :blah: !
I am renovating my kitchen and baths. I am putting down new bathroom and kitchen floors as well as installing new cabinetry. I've heard conflicting opinions on which I should do first.
Any opinions?

In the bathroom, always tile first, cabinets last. In the kitchen, I like to mark the footprint of the base cabinets, build those areas up with 3/8" ply and then set the cement board and tile so that it can be changed out later and does not affect the height of appliance clearances. This will also give you greater control over the layout of the tile and cuts around the room and still gives enough height usually for the cut tiles at the cabinet bases to hide shimming. Cover with your toe kicks or use a color texture matched caulk where the tile meets the cabinets.

I agree with tilebri except, I like to have the tile run an inch under the cabinets. You will still be able to replace the floor and not effect the cabinets but it gives the look of the tile going under the cabinet. (which I prefer)

We're about to move on to this step in our kitchen reno and we're going to put the tile in and have it all ready for when the cabinets are installed :D we're also going to do the plywood around under the cabinets, having the tile go a few inches under the cabinets to have that finished look. Saves on tile and time instead of tiling to all 4 corners, just to have the cabinets cover 24" of it, right?
Saves on cutting to fit the tiles if you put the tiles in before the cabinets!
