I have a side by side magic chef Refrigerator (1997 vintage) I have isolated a refrigerant leak to the openings of the outer and inner skin. The evap has been exposed and the only place the detector will pick up is the openings where the electrical or screws penetrate the skin. I see that the schematic shows a refrigerant loop around the edge of the freezer door I guess to keep ice from forming at the edge of the door it is called a Yoder condensor loop on the schematic. It looks like that line is leaking but i cannot see how to access to the interior is it possible to unskin a refrigerator or how do you go about getting to the loop to repair it? Note my background is industrial commercial and residential AC (universal cert card) I have done some minor repairs on window AC and fridges but not very much, I can silfos anything i can get to but how do you get to it without destroying the unit? I thought about bypassing the loop but then I would have to rig a strip heat tape or something around the door since it would probably freeze shut in short order. Any Ideas?
