I have a Kenmore Electric Dryer model no. 11062942100.

Here are the symptoms:

Hit start button and dryer drum turns on and off immediately (will not stay on).

If I hold start button in, the drum will continue to turn but dryer will not heat.

Any thoughts on what might be the faulty part, or further diagnosis required would be appreciated.

One other note:

This dryer has had this symptom since it was new. It used to be that unplugging the dryer or waiting 10-20 minutes would allow something to 'reset' and dryer would then work normally.

Thx,
Ben

I Take It This Is A Even Heat Dryer..... There Wer A Few Service Flashs Out On This.... Part Number 8546229 Control Board... Unplug...remove Endcaps And 2 Screws Behind Them Flip Console Over.. And There It Is...

Endcaps! Those were Endcaps? Slick. I've had this thing out in the garage twice, turned on its side, studied it, over and over, took out heating element, flipped up top, wondered how to get into Console???. Hilarious.

Once I found out how to remove the Endcaps!

Unplugged first. Took off endcaps, and two screws behind just like you said. Located Control Board. Got anti-static PPE. Pulled out 3 multi-pin plug-ins. Plus one small connector. Fiddled with clumsy plastic holder, slid Control Board out. Looks like an R2 is fried (brown on front, black in back), I'm guessing resistor. Put it in anti-static bag in basement next to old computer cards (fits perfectly).

Estimate new one will be around $100. Will drive to parts store tomorrow if in stock, otherwise order online. My laundromat hours may be up. I'll post tomorrow if part is in stock, or next week if need to order.

Thanks a million.
Ben

Here is the rest of the story:

Sears parts center locally 'does not carry this part'. Service person was nice enough to recommend an appliance repair place closer to home that might. I stopped off at the library, called their number, they had one in stock. Raced over there just before they closed. Got it and looked at it and realized, that above, I wasn't supposed to 'slide' the old one out of the plastic holder, I shoulda popped the card out with plastic holders intact (that was not obvious to me).

Anyway the dryer is running and the wife is happy.

Thanks again, bambiblaster.

P.S. Is it worth keeping the old card with the fried R2 (resistor?). If not, I'll keep it for a while, then maybe let it go at the next house cleanup. I'm keeping the old heat element for a spare in a pinch.

Glad To Hear That... Some People Try And Replace Bad Resistor.... Otherwise Landfill Base......
