Could someone tell me if its a good idea to install rebar in our footer ?
The footer will have 12" and 8" concrete blocks that will be filled with concrete.
Thanks

It is always a good idea to have rebar in the footer, most codes require it. If the footer was to crack the rebar will help to keep it stable. Depending on the locality it should have 2 or 3 pieces the entire length.

As was suggested, check your local codes for this answer. You will benefit from it being right when the inspector comes.

Thank you both very much.
It sounds like all the answers I get from here and others (one being an engineer) are for the rebar.
There are no building codes in this area for footers ect...but I will have it installed.
Thanks
