I have purchased a new home and for my living room and dining area I put up Bamboo Roman Shades, Pecan color, by Jakarta.. The problem is that even when they are down you can see right through them right through my living/dining room. I tried the liners, they are too thick and when you go to roll up the shades (which makes roman blinds so pretty) the liner bunches up and looks a mess. I need some suggestions on making the Roman shades more private when they are down.

Thanks

well, i was waiting for someone else to give some suggestions, but i guess no one has any! i have no experience with bamboo shades, so i'm not really even sure what the liners are. is it a separate panel of fabric that's attached just at the top or sides or what? is there any way you could make your own liners out of a thinner fabric, using the existing thicker ones as a model/pattern, & attach it?

other than that, my only suggestion would be to install drapery panels over the shades and draw them at night when you need privacy (maybe just a sheer would give you just enough more coverage for privacy). or hide another kind of shade under a valance that you could lower at night on top of the bamboo.

too bad whoever sold them to you didn't warn you that they weren't going to give you privacy at night.
