I have a Bryant heating and Cooling system. The house and the system is 7 years old. The furnace is a Bryant plus 80 and the heat pump is a Bryant 661C with a three switch one lever Bryant thermostat. My problem is when I set my thermostat mode switch to "cool" and the fan switch to "auto" and the temp set to 72 it will cool down the house (2700 sq ft). The problem comes at night when the temp drops down outside. Many nights I have woken up soaking wet because the heat has kicked on, and will stay on until I turn the system off. The temp has reached as high as 98 before. It has also done this before when the fan switch was set to the "on" position. The only repairs that has been performed was the A-coil was replace 2 years ago. Can some one please explain to me what is going on here. Thanks. . .

Could be in the stat and could be the reversing valve going bad. The only way you will be able to tell is by checking for voltage going to the reversing valve while it is acting up. Or change the stat and see if it stops.
The back up gas furnace isn't kicking in is it?
