My A/C blower motor won't stay running. I can put the selector on my thermostat to Fan On and the blower will work for a short period then cut off. The outside unit works fine, no problems there. When the fan does blow cold air does come out.
Is this a problem with a relay inside the unit or is the blower going out?
Thanks,
Jeff

is the blower making any odd noise that it never done before??
How old is the system?? belt or dirct drive? Oil ports??
Sounds like the motor is going off on it's own due to over heating. Take an AMP reading to see if it's in range.. If the AMP is ok, then take a reading to see if power is lost at the motor or not.

it doesn't make any strange noises. The system is about 14 yrs old and as far as I know it is the original blower. I have already removed the blower on some advice of a ex neighbor who is also an a/c man.
It is electric, no belt.
Thanks,
Jeff

Now that it's removed, check to see if you have power to the motor the whole time even when it stops. if power to it and not running the motor may of tripped on high temp..

Jay,
I replaced the motor and capasitor but the new motor is still doing the same thing. After about 30-45 minutes the blower motor quits but the compressor continues to run.
Please explain high temp trip. Is this when the blower motor overheats and trips?
Thanks,
Jeff
