I have a major remodel with new ductwork on 2 of 3 levels. The question arises on whether or not to use aluminum tape around the joints of the trunks that are in the floor trusses. Of course, these eventually will be sealed up with drywall and flooring...
The 2 schools of thought I heard are:
Sealing the joints causes a pressure drop between the floors and un-even pressure is bad
Sealing the joints causes more air to flow to the intended areas to be heated/cooled thus using less energy
opinions?
Thanks

I've never heard of the first theory. Do not use foil tape as a sealant. Use mastic instead. It holds up far better.
