I Just Purchased A Home That Is Cooled With A 12000 Btu Wall Mounted Split Unit. I Have About 1200 Sq.ft. Of Living Space. I Want To Replace The Unit With A 20000 Btu. My Question Is Do I Need To Replace The Copper Tubing Also? . The 12000 Unit Has A 1/2" Gas Intake Line. The 20000 Unit Has A 5/8" . Could I Put A 1/2-5/8 Adapter On The Unit, And Keep The Original Piping. And If That's Possible, Would It Effect The Cooling Capacity Of The 20000 Unit?

Where is this unit mounted??
I would leave this one, and add another one in another room/area of the house..
mini split system MUST have matching line size.. so line will have to be replaced.

thank's jay. it's mounted in the front main enterance, my living space is all on the main floor. The unit is blowing air towards the bedrooms and kitchen. The entrance and kitchen is cool, but the two bedrooms are not comfortable.

Sounds like the air flow has a good shot to blow into the bedroom?
Then Update the unit, and change out the line set..
or keep what's there, and get another unit for the bedroom itself. that way both ends has something.
