I'm in the process of wanting to replacing a 13 year old 2.5 ton York airconditioner and furnace. I want to start having AC contractors come and and give estimates but I'm trying to determine which brands I should be looking at. I don't anticipate being in the house longer than 7 more years but would like something that is reliable, and rather cost effective. What brands would you recommend? Are there any reviews/consumer forums that might have more information? Thanks for your help!

The install/workmenship of the equipement what matters the most. Also doing a heat lost/gain on the home, and duct sizing is very important.
once alll the stuff above been done, then anything wil work well.
My personal Opinion... I prefer the following..
1- Trane/American Standard.
2- Rheem/Ruud
3- Carrier/Bryan
4- York
