My central air is building up ice on the pipes coming out and after some readinf I think it looks like i need to refill the refrigerant. Is this something that I can do or do I need to call someone to come and do it. I'm sorry if there has been this question asked before, I looked but didn't find anything!!! All your help would be muchly appreciated!!!

No it is not something you can do. In order to buy & use refrigerants one has to be EPA certified.

Also ice may cause by poor air flow.. is the air filter clean/new? Blower running good? Coil clean?

if all is ok, then call in the pro to get it done.. have them go over the system to make sure coil is clean.

Okay, now I feel really silly but where would I find the coil and the blower, inside the unit? I obviously don't have too many men in my life to help me out with this stuff. Sorry!!! and thanks again!!!

Your AC outside unit has lines running to an air handler and in your case is probably a gas furnace. Your furnace has a blower and evaporator coil will be mounted in front of blower for cooling and dehumidification. Power should be turned off. If you are not comfortable working around equipment, then I would recommend you turn this job over to a certified HVAC tech. This is not a job for the inexperienced and you might actually cause more problems.

I think it's best to call a Pro and have them check the system out.
