Hello,
I have an Amana washing machine model LWA40AW which was purchased new in 1998. It developed a bad water leak under the center of the tub just above the transmission. I'm assuming the tub seal is bad. I like to take on projects myself so I started tearing the machine apart. I have the tub out of the machine with the transmission still attached. I removed the three screws that hold the bearing mount to the bottom of the tub, but the input shaft does not slide out. I was going to take the agitator off too, but that seems tight. I'm looking for information on removing the transmission from the tub and the agitator from inside of the tub.
Thanks in advance for your helpful info,
Dave

Its A Fun Job.... Ya Got To Pull Agit Up And Yes Its A Tight One But Will Pop Off.. Try Sliding A Small Rope Under And Pull.. A Lawn Mower Pull Cord Is Best... Under There Is A Dome.. Without The Special Puller Just Take Out The Bolt And Use A Chisel And Cu It Off.. Costs About 8-10 Bucks... Under It Is A Spanner Nut.. Remove It Also.. The Basket Can Be Removed... Flip The Rest Upside Down And Remove Bolts From Frame And Tub Lift Off Trans And Lower Frame....
