HI,

I have a gas forced air luxaire furnace and a gas hot water heater. Can I vent the HW heater to the vent for the furnace using a t or some other method?
Thanks,

There are a lot of things to be considered before venting a furnace into the same system as a water heater.
1. How are they presently vented?
2. Does either one have an exhaust fan?
3. Going into a chimney?
4. Of what is the chimney made? The list goes on & on. Let's start here.

1. How are they presently vented?
4" b vent for the furnace through the roof- HW tank is single wall? vent pipe out the foundation and up the side of the house.
2. Does either one have an exhaust fan?
furnace has some type of fan at the exhaust point
3. Going into a chimney?
no chimney
4. Of what is the chimney made? The list goes on & on. Let's start here.

If the B-vent is properly sized, both appliances can be vented into it. I don't have a copy of National Fuel Gas Code venting tables here but you might be able to find them online or maybe one of the other guys who do more gas than I will jump in.
