Doors and Windows - Pocket Door squeaks and needs to be shaved

My pocket door that have is rubbing against the sides of the jamb and are scratching off some of the wood on the bottom half of the door. I need to trim about 1/4" at most off of one side of the jamb but don't know how to do this. Removing the pocket door is difficult.........I know it hangs on hinges but can't seem to find them. I also have to trim about 1/4" off the bottom of the door since it's also rubbing against the new thicker carpet we've recently intalled.
I think I'm in big trouble here.

Hi, Pocket doors hang on wheels that ride on a rail above the door.
To remove the door check to see if the opening on both doors are the same. (most are) Go with the widest opening if not. You will see a piece of wood on the side and top of the door frame (not the casing around the door)remove the wood and lift the door off the rail. You will have to tilt the door out and lift at the same time. Trim the bottom of the door for the carpet about 1/2". Check the pocket door guides. Make sure there is no debris inside the pocket and make sure, if you have new carpet that the floor layers didn't knock the frame loose when kicking in the carpet. There is no common fix for pocket doors mostly trial and error. Also the wheels are replaceable and adjustable.

Woodbutcher....I don't exactly know what you mean by "the opening on both doors are the same".....I only have one pocket door.

And by the "piece of wood on the side and top of the door frame" I take it you mean the 2 pieces of wood that if the pocket door was closed are right beside it on the top of the door ? And if I remove this, will the piece of wood break ?

You only have one door but two sides if the door is in a bedroom with the door closed you have one side in the in the bedroom and one side in the hallway.
The piece of wood is about 3/8 thick and 1 3/8 wide. score the paint with a knife along the edge then pry it off with a chisle or screwdriver. Drive the chisle behind the wood and gently pry it off. Start at the bottom. The wood may break if it does replace it. The wood piece is called door stop and pretty cheap.Take a sample with you.
