I'm finishing a basement myself. Next is heat/ac. Can I tap into the 6 & 7 inch ducts feeding the first floor or should I run seperate ducts. There are three vents already in the main trunk for the basement. But there is a large bedroom and a large rec room that need heat/ac. TIA.

No, do not tap into existing branch runs to supply the basement with conditioned air. Install separate supply and most importantly, return air grills to the basement rooms. There are differing opinions whether the supply grills should be at the ceiling or the floor in a basement. I believe that it won't make much difference as long as the return grills are at floor level to remove the cold air from the basement floor (assuming of course you are in a cold climate).
