Just looking for the Pros & Cons of Regarding the heating time of a Tankless Waterheater.

I am looking at two location for my tankless.

Installation Location #1: on the first floor, Near my gas meter (gas line will be a shorter run - less money), venting will be a side mount.

Installation Locatin #2: on the second floor in my attic (I will convert an exsiting 60 ft 3/4 gas line run to an 1 inch line- more money) venting will be roof top.

The heating time questions ? Will location # 2 provide a better HEAT RESPONSE time then location #1 or is these HEAT Response time concern something that is irrelevant.

Note:I currently house my furnace and waterheater on the second floor in a utlility room. Which serve appliances on the first floor and the showers on the second floor.

any insight will be appreciated - just trying to make the wife happy !!

Heat response time will differ from unit to unit, but I would say the farther the distance from the unit to fixture, the longer the response time. That goes with a tank heater or tankless.

Your tankless heater will have response time dictated by BTU max load, GPM flow through the unit at its maximum.
