Pardon my ignorance...moving into my new townhouse in a few weeks. I know I have a gas furnace, but don't know the model, etc.
Want to know how hard it would be to replace the current old school manual thermstat with a nice new Honeywell 8500D?

Since it's not a heat pump I assume a lot less wires?

Any help is appreciated. I wish I had the furnace info etc with me but I won't for 2 more weeks.

If you have a singel stage heating/cooling system, then you will need 4 wires..

I have something close to this, I have the 2-stage heating on mine, and I used 6 wires.

I love mine alot! I would never go back to a regular t-stat.

I would suggest you upgrade to the one you can get from the Pro.. Yours w/ the "R" on RTH is not like the Pro.. The "TH" has lot more options you can set and control ..

When you wire it, MAKE SURE you turn off the power. Otherwise may short out something.
