I have a fireplace I wish to spruce up a bit. I want to cover the sheet rock walls and and hearth with either river rock or stacking stone. The hearth is not the issue. Going up the wall is. Do I cover the walls with screen and scratch as I build up with the stone/rock or how do I attach the stone/rock to the wall? And, I have to assume using the bag to grout or mortar between the stones after completion.
I had one built before on another home but had no opportunity to observe it. I will also be building an oak mantle to insert into the stone/rock at the proper place.
