I need to install a new hot water heater in a very small space and want to know whether a 4 or 6 gallon heater would allow for a quick (5 minute?) shower. This is for a weekend cabin where the electricity is only turned on when I'm there, which is most weekends. There are no other appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, etc.) requiring vast amounts of hot water. All advice is very much appreciated!

The new "energy efficient" showerheads are rated at 2-1/2 gallons per minute so it would not be a 5 minute shower. Spongebath maybe. Don't forget that you have to deduct the amount of hot water from the tank as it is used and refills with cold water. Good luck.
