I am a novice builder and am working on building a deck. The deck size is 24 long and 12 wide. It will be attached to the house. I need to know how many and where I should put the posts for support.

Check with the building dept when you get the permit. There are different spans for different wood and sizes 2x10 2x8 etc. Also google "span tables" with or without the quotes.
