I am trying to decide what to do about the stained crown molding in my bedbroom. Most of the other trim is painted white and I really think the stained wood at the ceiling makes the room look so much smaller. I know how expensive this 12" molding was, though; but I still think I'd like to paint over it. How well do liquid sanders work on detailed crown molding?
Any advice on whether or not to tackle this job?

If you decide to paint it, what you need to do is lightly sand it with a 150 grit or better(no more than 220), use a quality oil primer, after dry sand lightly with 220 grit, wipe off dust. Calk joints, wall and ceiling with a paintable latex calk wiping with a wet finger and removing excess with a damp rag and allow to dry. Paint.
I would suggest going to a Pro paint store for the paint and primer. I would use sandpaper instead of liquid sander, it is less expensive and not as messy.
