Basically I planned on re-roofing my house by myself. Had the 42 squares of materials delivered by Lowes. Upon checking the local codes, I realized that I would have to bring all my sheathing nailing up to code before any of the felt/shingle work can be done. This involves addition time and labor that I cannot provide. I cannot leave the roof exposed for this additional amount of time due to rains. Bottom line is that in the long run, it would be better to just hire a contractor to do the roof. My question is, will any companies do the work using my materials? or should I just return the materials, (which would be a pain and require 6 trips or so using a pick-up truck) ?? I don't think Lowes would pick up the materials from my residence as they delivered them.
I was considering re-roofing over the old shingles to solve my problems, since all my sheating is good, but I know that although this is the easy way out, it has drawbacks.

check around you should find a handyman that will install your material.
check the penny saver for a start and local supermarket bullletin board
good luck

There may be roof contractors who'll use your material, doing the job. I've done it myself on occasion. What many guys {including me} don't like is when a homeowner, thinking they'll "save" money by buying the materials, then hiring a contractor to do the work, ask them for a price....in a way that implies the homeowner has somehow already done the "hard work" of obtaining the materials.
For me, I just make a phone call, give an address with a material list, and the roof supply house does the rest. The WORK is in selling, then installing the thing. When I'm asked for a price for labor only, I figure out my normal price, then deduct the materials, end of story.
Just keep in mind that although you've purchased some stuff, there likely will be other items required to do the job, which the roof contractor will most likely want to get paid for.

Find someone to help you nail the sheathing and tarpaper the roof. If you rent or buy a framing nailer to do the sheathing it will not take long all.
