I have several baked on black areas on my glass cook top. Do the expensive specialty cleaners work to get this off? It is caked on a bit and has been there a few years. I know my local home center has specialty cleaners for glass tops but it is very expensive. Over 20 bucks a bottle. I don't want to spend that if it won't do the job. Thanks!

Baking soda and water paste left to set is often recommended for removing baked on food. A degreaser or all-purpose cleaner is also effective if given time to soak off the baked on food. Any remaining residue can be removed with razor blade, taking care not to scratch glass. Then, polish with recommended stove top polish to seal glass.
