I have a thermador stovetop and there are two burners that are not starting. We had this happen before and the technician replace a Potentiometer part# 189817. Paid just short of $150..Ouch.
Now I have two burners that seems to not work. I assume the same problem.
I found the part but is it too much to replace? How? :D

not real familiar with thermador appliances but.... typically a potentiometer has 2 mounting screws and 2 wire leads {similar applications in your home would include a light dimmer or ceiling fan control} if you believe you could change 1 of those then you certainly could handle the same project on a range! just be aware that understanding a problems origin doesnt mean you understand what is involved in fixing it. by that i mean there are numerous minor details involved in getting to that part that if not done correctly could result in a repair bill well in excess of 150 bux. if 150 seemed like alot for last similar repair, call and get estimates for same job from other pros and see if it was out of line. sounds reasonable to me but its your money i'm spending! gl and hope to hear about your happy ending.
