We are in the process of "refreshing" our redwood deck. (Patching, painting.)
I ask the contractors not to use anything slick, as the deck can be very slippery when wet. They suggested a fine granular additive. I agreed to this, without asking any other questions.

They used Tread Tex by Homax, and added it to Porter Exterior Oil Stain, Wood Guardian, semi-transparent. It's so bad I could have done it all by myself! Bubbling and blistering, and generally yucky. Their try at a 2nd coat made it worse.

Any suggestions, short of arson? I registered to DOityourself specifically for this question, but do not intend to be a hit and run poster. I appreciate any help, and in return, will help others in the forum with something I may know something about. Thanks!

I think that at this point the only thing you can do is strip it off.

whoa! i'm assuming you paid or plan to pay the contractor for completing the work? you had an agreement (either verbal or written) for him to do the work and it sounds as if he did not do it right. hopefully, you did not pay in advance and hopefully, he is a reputable contractor who will, "make it right" without having you threaten to with hold money or take legal action.

What exactly is the porter number that is associated with what they put on your deck. I went to their site and didn't really see anything like what you are talking about that is reccomended for a deck. Most is for vertical surfaces.

If you have apop up blocker the sight may not work. It will in firefox at least on my computer

In the process of picking out new decking. I've heard that Veranda, Timbertech, and Evergrain by Epoch were pretty good. Does anyone have any experience with any of these lines? Framing in 2X10's with 16"OC. Would require 20' pieces from to make it from end to end. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated
