3 Newbie questions:
I have a 65yo house with a concrete patio. Over the years the patio has shifted some and there is now a gap about 1/2 - 3/4 inches between the slab and the house (brick). The slab does sit up about 1ft from ground level so the gap is deep (have not measured, but Id say a good 15 inches on average). At this point, Id think any kind of caulk will just fall down into the gap.
Whats best to fill this gap with to keep water out?
Also, Im removing and reparing a small section that had settled. It does run up against the house. Should I run the concrete right up to the house? Do I need some kind of cushion or seam/seal between the two?
Finally what would you recommend as a base to place under the repair. Currently there is lots of dirt and I had thought I could use some of the smaller broken pieces of the section I removed to help fill that space. ??
Thanks for your help!
