Hello everyone,
I just bought a house that has Brinks security system installed. I was wondering if I could use it as a stand alone. I have the 2000 pads, 2 motion sensors, door sensor, photo-electric smoke (which went off last night) detector and a heat sensor.
I know the alarm code but the pads say not ready no matter what I hit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The not ready issue means that you have an open zone.
The problem with Brinks hardware is that it is literally hardwired to only work with their network. They have a couple of models that can, in theory, be reprogrammed as a stand alone system, but the information to reprogram the is very difficult to find.
If you are unwilling to be a Brinks subscriber, your best bet is to buy a new system. You should only need to replace the keypad(s) and control, unless you have wireless.
