I have an Amana gas dryer that has recently stopped drying clothes in less than 6 hours. I have cleaned out any lint that had built up in the dryer (as recommended in the other threads).
What is happening is the dryer is started with the 4 position heat switch set to high and the timer set to "more dry". The gas comes on and the dryer heats up. At some point 5 to 15 minutes later the dryer stops heating the air.
As far as I can tell, the air doesn't heat back up once the heat initially turns off.
From all of the information I can gather, I think the problem is coming from one of the thermostats.
Any help would be great.

Hello: wing_man
Be positive the entire venting system is clear of lint, has no kinks or is crimped, bent, etc. before suspecting parts need to be replaced. Any airflow restriction can cuase the problem described. Also check the exhaust vent hoods flapper door. Must be able to freely open and close.
Remove the entire venting system from back of the machine and dry a load of clothes. If the problem is corrected, the venting system is clogged some where. If not, than we can diagnose a problem which may be a faulty part related to thermostats, flame sensors, etc.
