I have recently had new siding, eaves, soffit and fascia installed on my house over the old wood. The job was just completed but now there are 5 or 6 carpenter bees buzzing around where their old access to the soffit was. This is now closed off with aluminum and they can't get in. We've treated this area twice before but thought the bees were gone. Will they eventually go away or should I treat this problem again somehow?

Spray with residual insecticide to deter bees. In the spring the adults that emerged last fall, return to the tunnels to hibernate and mate. If bees are within reach, you can knock them down with your tennis racket and step on them.

That actually sounds like fun. The neighbors might think I've finally gone crazy but at least I can practice my overhand slam. Cheers! :D

thats funny, takes me back, when i was a kid we had a bumble bee nest in the wall of our garage, the exterminator tried to get rid of it three times without success, finally my dad and i just spent 3 weekends sitting outside in lawn chairs with tennis rackets. ( bumble bees are big, bigger than regular bees so you can cut them in two or three with a swing of a racket)
we ended up killing around 900 of em

did the bumble bees not try to swarm you?
